A full moon loses its intensity during an evening snow fall. Peaceful, tranquil, and possibly even chilly, are all words that could be used to describe this winter scene.
Supplies:
- Black construction paper
- Oil pastels
- White chalk
- Kleenex
- White craft paint mixed with white glue and water
- Old toothbrush
- Fine iridescent glitter
Directions:
- With white oil pastel, draw a circle on the black paper. Fill it completely with white pastel, and then lightly add white pastel about an inch around the circle.
- Using the side of the white chalk, cover the entire paper with white chalk. With the Kleenex, wipe away the chalk leaving a white film over the paper.
- With white oil pastel, draw and fill in snow drifts along the bottom of the picture. Use blue oil pastel to show drifts. Add white over the blue to blend.
- With black oil pastel, draw fir trees. Use the rules of perspective to show close up and distant trees. The very furthest trees can be smudged to show distance. Add strokes of white oil pastel to the trees for snow.
- Mix small amounts of white craft paint, white glue and water, to the consistency of cream. Using the toothbrush, spatter paint the winter scene. Immediately sprinkle on the fine iridescent glitter. Shake off excess.
