Nativity Cube

This little cube stable is just the right size for the 2″ Holy Family. I also used these Mo Manning digital stamps for the “Pop-up Nativity,” 3rd grade project. The digital stamps are so convenient because you can size them to whatever size you need, no need to buy stamps of every size. They can be purchased at http://digitalpenciltoo.com  Mo gave me written permission to use the printed stamps for this project.

Supplies:

  • Tan construction paper or card stock
  • White construction paper
  • White card stock for stamping figures
  • Cube stable (Pattern)
  • Stable star (Pattern)
  • Christmas card
  • Thin colored markers or colored pencils
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Gold glitter glue
  • Black Sharpie

Directions:

  1. I sized the Holy Family to a 2″ size, printed it, cut the figures apart and arranged them with Joseph to the left, Mary to the right and crib centered in front of them. I used this for my pattern and then printed the group on white card stock. I colored the family and left a small margin around them when I cut them out. I colored this margin black. I cut a ½” x 1 ½” strip, folded down one end ½” and glued the tab to the back of the figures to make them stand.
  2. Print the stable pattern on the tan paper. Print the star on white paper.
  3. Cut out the stable. Lay a ruler across and to the inside of the points and draw a stylus the length of the paper making a groove. Do the same to the other side with the points. Make a groove across the front right below the star and straw. Make two more grooves along the long straight areas.
  4. Fold the tabs on the top and bottom of the stable to the inside and apply glue to the tabs. Fold the sides over the tabs and press to adhere. Fold the straw down and the star up. Glue the colored star over the tan one. Make straw lines with the black marker.
  5. Cut a square of Christmas card ( stars, snow, sky, Bethlehem) to fit the inside back of the stable and glue.
  6. Outline the star with gold glitter glue and run the glue down the rays. Add a bit of glitter glue to the halo on the baby Jesus.
