Flying Witch

Halloween wouldn’t be the same without sighting a witch or two. Hang these around the classroom or house and you’ll be “witched.” A variety of jewel colored (napkin or tissue paper) skirts would be appealing.

Supplies:

  • Paper (paper) plate
  • White paper
  • Witch (Pattern)
  • Colored markers or crayons
  • Wooden skewer or 12″ twig
  • Napkin or colored tissue cut to 12″ square
  • Small amount of raffia
  • String
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Stapler
  • Black ribbon or string

Directions:

  1. Fold the paper plate in half and then again in half. Unfold it and lay it on the napkin or tissue, then fold it up again. This is the witch’s skirt.
  2. Slide the skewer into the fold, leaving 3″ sticking out of the front of the skirt.
  3. Cut a few 3″ lengths of raffia and tie it to the opposite end of the skewer. This is the broom bristles.
  4. Glue the witch’s boots together up to the dotted line. Staple the boots to the two inside pieces of the paper plate, about 2″ from the fold on the broom bristle end.
  5. Glue the witch heads together, leaving the arm area unglued. Fit the witch with one arm on each side of the skewer and glue the arms overlapping the napkin skirt.
  6. Staple the black ribbon to the top of the skirt, so the witch hangs at a slight angle.
