This little wire coat hanger mouse would be welcome in anyones house, so we call him or her “House Mouse.” Again the main supply needed in this project is a wire coat hanger—–if you send a note home with the kids, you’ll get tons of them. We have patterns included for the mouse. The boy mouse gets a bow tie for his neck, the girl mouse gets a bow for her head. Directions for this project, ” House Mouse,” is in the Miscellaneous Projects Gallery in the sidebar.
WIRE COAT HANGER MOUSE
WIRE COAT HANGER CHICK
This is a “Hick Chick” wire coat hanger chick. He wouldn’t look so like a hick if you left his goofy hat off, but this chick just doesn’t care. Yellow, orange and blue construction paper and a pattern (included) makes this an easy project. For the directions for this wire coat hanger chick, “Hick Chick,” look under the Miscellaneous Projects Gallery in the sidebar.
WIRE COAT HANGER BUNNY
“Hunny Bunny” is just that, a honey. Cute as can be with her pink, puffy, cotton ball tail and holding a carrot. A wire coat hanger project that is easy, with the patterns and directions included. A cute Easter decoration or make a wire coat hanger menagerie for a child’s room or the nursery. For the supply list, patterns and directions for “Hunny Bunny,” go to the Miscellaneous Projects Gallery in the sidebar.
AMERICAN INDIAN MOCCASINS
These little moccasins are just too cute. I made them with felt, instead of leather, following the directions for the One-piece, Soft-sole, Center-seam Moccasins on http://www.nativetech.org/clothing/moccasin/mocinstr.html
I used my granddaughter’s foot measurements (size 12) to make the pattern. I think that a copier that resizes patterns could be used to make my pattern either larger or smaller. The only thing—-the cuff should probably remain at two inches deep. This project is actually simple once the pattern is made. The directions for, “Native American Moccasins,” can be found in the Miscellaneous Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

GROCERY BAG DOLL
This is a cute little doll made from a brown grocery bag, but in the style of the corn husk dolls. Very easy and really a cute, inexpensive project. I’ve listed this project, “Fake Corn Husk Doll,” in the Miscellaneous Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

WIRE COAT HANGER PUPPY
This is my favorite wire coat hanger project. I call this little cutie, “Puppy Love.” These are so easy to make, especially because the patterns are full sized. They could be printed on colored paper, but I like to use white so any color can be used—or spots added. Besides the wire coat hanger, there are only a couple of supplies needed, most importantly crayons, black Sharpie and a glue stick. All directions and patterns for “Puppy Love” are in the Miscellaneous Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

COFFEE FILTER CANDLE HOLDER
It takes a lot of imagination to compare these candle bowls with the glass art of Dale Chihuly, but they are fun to make and the cost of making them is right. We use coffee filters, colored tissue paper and spray starch to make our interpretation of Dale’s art. The candles are battery operated tea lights. I think this would make a nice, inexpensive table decoration for a wedding or any party. They would also make outstanding Christmas decorations. I’ve included a couple of blog addresses so you can check out the Dale Chilhuly art. For a better view of the bowls, click on the image at the left. Any age could do this project, “Coffee Filter Candle Bowl,” so I’ve listed it in the Miscellaneous Projects Gallery in the sidebar.
THE ANGRY BIRDS
I’ll be the first to admit that I know little to nothing about the video games my grandchildren seem to enjoy, but when I ran across some images of the angry birds I couldn’t help but see a fun project for the kids. I used colored paper to cover empty boxes and then made faces and feathers with scraps of paper. It took very little time to make the samples, so I think this will make a good project for the kids to free-hand draw the eyes, beaks and feathers. This project, Angry Birds,” could be done by any class, so I’ve listed it in the Miscellaneous Projects Gallery in the sidebar.
