You were probably really thankful for that CD when it was new and useful, but now you just want to use it for something else instead of tossing it. Here’s your chance to show your thanks again; once for finding a use for it and once for expressing the holiday. The feathers are printed on white paper. I decorated it with glitter glue, but the feathers could be colored instead. Or maybe you have wallpaper sheets to use for the feathers, or colored construction paper. Find this project, “CD Turkey,” in the 4th Grade Projects Gallery in the sidebar. Easy enough for younger kids.
DISC TURKEY
PERKY THE TURKEY
We want to start early decorating for Thanksgiving because as soon as Thanksgiving is over it means we can decorate for Christmas. Here is a turkey project to get you in the Thanksgiving mood. A wire coat hanger is the skeleton of this turkey. Make him one sided and hang him on the wall, or finish both sides to hang him from the ceiling. “Perky Turkey” can be found in the Thanksgiving Projects Gallery in the sidebar.
SUNFLOWER ‘N PUMPKINS
The object of this project is to improve some ordinary skills, like shading, cutting and arranging. There are two pages of images to work with. All of them do not have to be used in the arrangement. One pumpkin can be used or you can add, or don’t add, the autumn leaves. See how many different looks can be achieved with the same starting images. Other background colors can also be used. Find this project, Sunflowers and Pumpkins,” in the 6th Grade Projects Gallery in the sidebar.
CORNUCOPIA BOUNTY
This brightly colored cornucopia project is an example of a bountiful harvest I’ve included a sheet of fruit shapes in this project, but another choice would be for the kids to draw their own fruits. The fruits could also be cut from colored magazine pages. The strips around the cornucopia could be all the same color or any variety of combinations. I can see lots of possibilities for making the project unique——some glitter?? Any class could do this so I’m putting this, “Cornucopia,” in the Thanksgiving Projects Gallery in the sidebar.
STAND ALONE TURKEY
This project has three layers of feathers, a strip that holds the turkey body away from the feathers and a stand attached to the back to make the turkey stand on it’s own. There is a picture with and without gold glitter. Of course I prefer the glittered one!!
You’ll find the directions for this project,”Standing Turkey,” in the Thanksgiving Projects Gallery tab in the sidebar.
ACORN OF THANKS
The best part of the holiday of Thanksgiving is that it reminds us of how blessed we are. It’s important that we stress to our children that God is the source of all that we have and that we should thank Him daily for those blessings. This acorn and leaves hanging project is a perfect way to have the kids state what they are thankful for. For the pattern and directions go to “Be Thankful,” in the 1st Grade Projects Gallery in the sidebar.
WIRE COAT HANGER PUMPKIN
There are always plenty of wire coat hangers around for the asking. This “Pumpkin Bumpkin” is just one project using the coat hangers. You just need orange, green, brown and black construction paper, a glue stick and some tape to make the pumpkin hanger. For complete instructions and patterns for “Pumpkin Bumpkin,” click on the Miscellaneous Projects Gallery in the sidebar.
