April Showers

In February we start to seriously think about the coming of warmer weather and Spring. Of course that means April showers and usually wind. We give our cloud and raindrops a 3-D effect by folding and allowing part of the cloud and raindrops to be free.

Supplies:

  • Light blue or grey construction paper (background)
  • Blue, yellow, pink, lavender and green construction paper
  • Scraps of colored paper
  • Cloud (Pattern )
  • Rain drops (Pattern)
  • Black Sharpie
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors

Directions:

1. Print the cloud on blue paper. Print the rain drops on the blue, yellow, pink, lavender and green paper.

2. Cut out the clouds, fold at the fold line and place the two folded pieces fold to fold on the background paper. Only glue the half cloud that hits the paper. The other half sticks up and is not glued. Only glue the other half cloud that hits the paper. The two center halves should give a 3-D effect.

3. With the black Sharpie or thin marker draw wind lines off the cloud. Add a few tiny raindrops with the marker.

4. Cut out the colored raindrops. Fold them at the fold lines and lay them on the background in the same manner as the cloud.

5. Using green scrap paper, tear a strip for the grass. Cut small flowers, stems and leaves and fit them behind the grass and glue down.

You should be able to just click on the word (Pattern) and the pattern should come up in a new window. Then you can print it off from that window. Please let me know if you are still having trouble with it.
