BLACK SPIDER HEADBAND

It’s bigger than an itsy, bitsy spider, but the kids were singing the song never the less. The 1st grade class loved doing this project, they wanted to wear them to lunch today. The instructions, supplies needed and a pattern for the eyes to make this project, “Spider Headband,” can be found in the Halloween Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

RESTING CATS

This project makes a set of cats, one sitting and one lying down. Fun tack or glue dot them to the window and they can see inside and outside. These are quick and easy to make. The kids loved this project. The patterns and directions for “Window Sittin Cats” are in the Halloween Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

PUMPKIN CUBES

One thing teachers can easily get ahold of is 1/2 pint milk cartons.  Here is a project that’s easy and a way to send lots of empty milk cartons home. What kid wouldn’t want to make a passel of these.  There’s always room for a few little extra Halloween decorations in the home or at school. And once you start making them you can think of lots of different ways to decorate them. Google eyes, long accordian pleated legs, etc. Directions for this project, “Milk Carton Pumpkins,” is in the Halloween Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

LEAVES AND SPOOKS

I have included a pattern of a bare tree for this project, “Falling Leaves and Spooks.” We start out with a black construction paper background and glue on the bare tree. Then the fun begins with tearing little pieces of colored paper scraps for the leaves. Any other spooky thing, an owl or ghost, can be added. The pattern and directions for “Falling Leaves and Spooks” are found in the 2nd Grade Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

LUNCH BAG BAT

Another lunch bag project just in time for Halloween. This project usually works better with third grade or older students. For supplies you’ll need a brown lunch bag, newspaper and printed features on colored construction paper. The wings, feet and pupils pattern is printed with green ink, which shows when copied on black paper. Directions for this project, “Brown Paper Bag Bat,” is found in the Halloween Projects Gallery in the sidebar. Happy Halloween!!

FOURTH OF JULY

Every kid, young and old, loves watching fireworks on the Fourth of July. Great memories are made while the family enjoys the brilliant, colorful explosions of light. And the noise! We do this piece of art on black construction paper, color the display with oil pastels and then put the sparkle in with glitter glue. The cityscape pattern included, is Cricut friendly. Very outstanding! For directions, go to “Fireworks” in the 2nd Grade Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

HEARTS BOX

This heart box is the perfect size to hold M&M’s, mints, nuts, or even the miniature candy bars.  The box measures 3″ x 3″ x 1″. I’ve left the hearts blank so they can be decorated in a wide variety of ways. I used watercolor pencils to color them, but markers or craft paint would give deeper colors. And of course I needed to add an outline of iridescent glitter to finish the project. This heart box could also be used for a Mother’s Day gift box. The “Heart Box” can be found in the Valentine’s Day Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

FRIENDS FOREVER

Finish just one side of this valentine to give to a friend; or finish both sides, tie on a ribbon and hang as a classroom decoration. One side of the large heart says, “Friends forever,” but the other side is blank so a personal message can be added. Examples of the project are shown with and without glitter. This project, “Friends Forever Valentine,” is in the 2nd Grade Projects Gallery in the sidebar.
